Lt Col Dan Hughes, Commanding Officer, Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment.

Meeting HRH Princess Anne at Uniquely British book launch, Grosvenor Hotel 2012.

Foreword by Her Majesty The Queen.

“The Household Cavalry is as much a part of the weft and warp of London as Big Ben, black cabs and red buses. Notwithstanding their 350 years of service to this country as soldiers, The Life Guards and The Blues and Royals – whether in statuesque stillness on Whitehall or riding down the Mall in their pomp – are loved and admired by Londoners and visitors alike as an iconic feature of this great city. This book amply demonstrates why.” Boris Johnson, Mayor of London

Working with Hong Kong Of bales & banking  ISBN: 978-1-909660-21-2

Growing up in rural England in the 1950s were halcyon days for a young Mike Pitcher, and days that he wanted to record, not just for himself and great friends of that time but particularly for his grandchildren. Mike felt that times had changed so very much since then that it would be difficult to imagine for the young people of today. He sought Tricorn Books out to work with on this very personal project.

Whilst the manuscript was complete, it was felt that illustrations of his story would help to bring it alive. We work closely with a number of illustrators but it was Raphelina Bonito who captured the essence of Mike’s stories and time period, and she was duly commissioned to illustrate the book. Not only did she produce picture perfect scenarios but she also developed a ‘logo’ that was used as a graphic device throughout the book, the front cover and a series of text break diagrams to add pace and texture to the story.

The details and images were dealt with in one meeting and thereafter Mike returned to Hong Kong, where he lives. All other dealings and transactions were done remotely: roughs, drafts, amendments and approvals; book details, payment and agreement. This demonstrates the trust and confidence in Tricorn Books, as well as effective and clear lines of communication in our procedures.

Mike was not disappointed and received all his books before Christmas on time, within budget and looking extremely elegant.

"If anyone out there is considering publishing their book, I can thoroughly recommend contacting Gail and Dan of Tricorn Books. After trying unsuccessfully for two years to find a publisher ... I really needed their upbeat, can-do approach. They were very patient, and more than ready to guide and work with me and Tim (the photographer), to ensure it was a book we could all be proud of."  Sue Pike Thomas Ellis Owen

"I was asked if I would review Bill’s book and agreed with pleasure. The copy was sent to me on Friday afternoon and I took it home with me for the weekend. Bill’s story, to date, is both engaging and allows the reader a real insight into Bill’s world. I could not put the book down and it was finished by Saturday evening. Bill takes you on a journey of his life, looking at his experiences through his eyes and with his unique reflection. This book gives you a real grasp of Bill’s world. For anyone wishing to gain an understanding and insight into the world of a person with autism this book does just that. Bill welcomes you into his world. It has been a privilege and honour to have been asked to read this book and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have."  Andrew Monaghan, Chief Executive Officer, Hampshire Autistic Society.
